Shelby Township -- The younger brother of rapper Eminem pleaded guilty to a lesser offense today to avoid jail time in connection with a drunken driving charge.

Nathan Mathers, 23, pleaded guilty to one count of operating a vehicle while visibly impaired, second offense. In exchange for the deal offered today by prosecutors, one count of operating a vehicle while impaired, second offense will be dismissed.

Police say Mathers, of Clinton Township, failed to pull over for an ambulance before failing sobriety tests April 15 in Macomb Township. Police say his blood-alcohol level was 0.16, twice the legal limit.

The arrest came just 15 days after he was convicted of a separate alcohol related offense in Clinton Township's District Court.

Under the terms of the agreement, Mathers will have his license revoked and likely be ordered to community service and mandatory alcohol screenings.

A sentencing is set for Aug. 26 before visiting Judge Matthew Rumora.

Nathan Mathers, who raps as Nate Kane, is the brother of Marshall Mathers, better known as Eminem.

Mathers attorney Cecil D. St. Pierre said his client is fitted with a GPS tether and has been alcohol three for almost three months.

"He's abided by all (the court's) orders up until this point," St. Pierre said.

Eminem’s brother to be sentenced on drunken driving today!

Twenty-three-year-old Nathan Mathers will appear this morning in district court in Shelby Township for sentencing. He faces a fine of up to $1,000, possible community service and up to a year in jail.
Mathers agreed last month to plead guilty to a charge of operating while impaired, second offense.

(RTTNews) - Eminem's younger brother was sentenced for his second DUI in Michigan last week.

The 23-year-old Nathan Mathers received 100 hours of community service and a $1,000 fine. Also, he can't operate a vehicle for 3 months and must wear an alcohol monitoring ankle bracelet.

In April, Mathers was pulled over for failing to yield for an ambulance. During the stop, the rapper, who is also known as Nate Kane, showed a blood alcohol level of 0.16 - twice the legal limit in Michigan.

Mathers, who has lived with Eminem since he was 16, agreed last month to plead guilty to the DUI. His arrest took place just 15 days after his first conviction for drunken driving.
